Spinning is a high intense workout using a stationary bicycle with a weighted fly wheel. In one hour’s time approximately 900 calories can be burned. Loud thumping music, a crazy energetic instructor and a group of sweat dripping riders will eliminate your cardio boredom.
During a class an instructor will have your imagination running wild with images such as ocean breezes, mountain top hills, and all out sprints to the finish line. Intensity is varied using three different techniques unique to a spinning class. First is done by varying the resistance on the flywheel of the spin bike, just like gears on your road bike. Second is changing up the rate at which you pedal (cadence). Lastly are different positions your hands and body will be on the bike during the ride enabling different areas of your body to work harder or easier. The instructor will vary all of these variables making your ride intense and different each time.
Spinning hits both your aerobic and anaerobic system strengthening your cardiovascular system. Looking to slim and tone your lower body, spinning targets your glutes, thighs, and calves. 900 calories later a difference in your bodies overall physique will be seen.
