Karen Schlachter - Tai Chi Instructor

Sifu Karen Schlachter has been involved in the Martial Arts for over 46 years and has been teaching in the area for 27 years. She holds the equivalent of 5 black belts in various arts. Now she is ready to help BREAKTHRU develop a healing program for the community.

Each class will begin with qigong to relax the body and calm the mind. The qigong is part of a 10,000 year old system of energy practice that helps the body build chi or, as we know it, "life force". The organs, blood and breath are energized to release congested chi and free the body of emotional and physical blockages. Once the body has relaxed and built up it's chi it is ready for the steady flowing movements of the tai chi portion of the class. The slow pace helps to rebuild muscle and heart damage and disperse the chi throughout the body to balance the breath and blood and invigorate the muscles, tendons and organs.
