Dear Lance, Jodi and everyone on the BREAKTHRU Physical Therapy team,
Thank you for your care, guidance and professionalism throughout my ACL rehabilitation. I am back playing soccer at an even higher level than that previous to my injury in July of last year. This is due to the attention I received at BREAKTHRU.
I made a commitment to myself the day of the injury to returning within a year to play again. When I entered the doors of BREAKTHRU in Dec. 05, I brought a lot of energy and enthusiasm to get on with my physical therapy. Fortunately for me, I found in you, a knowledgeable and equally positive team to take me step by step back to the soccer field.
Your expertise and understanding of my exact needs was a constant source of reassurance whenever I thought I should be able to do more. Your answers to my questions, the benchmarks you set, and your overall commitment to work as I hard I was prepared and more were the key factors to my successful return.
I have unfortunately suffered ACL tears three times previous on the same knee in a ten year period. Each time I recovered to play again. Now, I have number four under my belt and hope that this is the last time. Regardless of what happens, I am supremely confident in my strength and ability to play for a number of years at a high level because of the quality of care you provided me.
Thank you again for all of your hard work and support during the last 8 months. I am forever grateful and a dedicated patient, fan and promoter of the BREAKTHRU holistic approach to health and exercise.
Yours in Soccer,
Paul A. Tanimae
Soccer Coach and Player (That refuses to retire as long as BT is ready to help me!)
Addendum to the above: On September 9th, 2007, I fractured the radial head in my right forearm, a painful injury sustained upon landing with my hand planted flat to the ground and elbow locked straight, after a bad tackle in our opening season soccer game. My surgery date was 9/17 where the doctors resected a portion of the bone and inserted a metal plate to piece me back together. I am currently back in the trusted hands of BREAKTHRU PT where I am again confident that there skill, passion and knowledge will guide me back to the field in time for my regional futsal competition in late January. Thanks again to Lance, Jodi, and the entire BT PT Team!
When I came to BREAKTHRU, I was in bad shape. Long story short, I clumsily fell and hurt my back. The injury was bad enough that I had to learn to sneeze without crying. It took time, but I began feeling better. But then, I would hurt myself again. To be honest, its a constant process. I hurt myself and the BREAKTHRU Fitness team fixes me. Their professionalism and dedication to their clientele is second to none. The injuries that I have sustained over the past few years have really limited me to the physical activities that I enjoy most. Recently, I joined a mixed martial arts program that challenges you on all aspects of your physicality. I could never have done this without the help and preparation that BREAKTHRU Fitness has provided me. If and when I hurt myself, I guarantee I will be more then happy to come back and see my friends at BREAKTHRU.

I came to BREAKTHRU after I had undergone ACL reconstruction and meniscal repair. This being my second knee injury, I had spent a significant amount of time with other physical therapists and athletic trainers. I cannot say enough as to how pleased I was with my experience at BREAKTHRU. Kevin, and all of the staff at Breakthru, seem to have a genuine care for the overall well-being of their patients. By developing a relationship with their patients, they are successful in making physical therapy as enjoyable as physical therapy can be. I left my sessions each time feeling as though I was pushed hard, and though I experienced ups and downs, I was never discouraged. I have made substantial progress in my three months at BREAKTHRU. I am confident that this therapy has helped to get me on my way to stepping on the lacrosse field again at Dartmouth.

During the summer of 2006 I had knee reconstruction
done for a torn ACL. Shortly after, I started rehab
at BREAKTHRU physical therapy with Lance. I was
cleared to go back to regular activities within five
months and playing basketball better than ever.
In the summer of 2007 I had a few occurrences of knee
strains. I found out I had sprained my MCL and was
back at BREAKTHRU working with Jeff. I am now going
back to my life of basketball and trust and feel more
comfortable with my knee and am ready to start playing
at a competitive level once again.
Both of these experiences at the center have gotten
me back to the sport I love, basketball. I owe
everything to Jeff and Lance, they have helped become
stronger than ever and have put so much time into my
workouts.

Dear Lance and Jodi
My recovery to physical well being could not be possible if not for the staff at BREAKTHRU. Jeff was so focused on my recovery and his positive reinforcement was truly the push I needed as I had truly thrown in the towel. After years of back pain, cognitive issues and numerous hospital stays I just gave up, now thanks to all of you I no longer rely on pain medicine, and “if only’s” – I really didn’t think it was possible. Thank you, I’m enjoying my exercise, my healthy choices, my pain free days and nights, once again I’m enjoying my life. To all of you god bless – I could never have done it with out you.
Sincerely,
Tammy Rhoads and family

Following an injury of my I.T. Band, I was referred to BREAKTHRU by my doctor. Having never been to physical therapy I didnt know what to expect. When I arrived I was unable to walk without limping or climb stairs without pain. Jodi greeted me with a smile every session and designed a plan that worked for me. She motivated me to work hard to strengthen my muscles and was a constant positive influence for me during this period of time. At 37 years old I never expected to have this type of problem. Jodi showed me exercises that I can do in my own home and she encouraged me to carry it into other areas of my life, eating healthier and exercising on a regular basis. After a few weeks I was back to normal. Breakthru provided a positive experience and I would recommend them to anyone that needs assistance following an injury or recovery from an operation.

I tore my ACL in early October of 2007. I needed to
see a knee doctor after realizing I did more to my
knee than hurt it. So my doctor recommended I go to
BREAKTHRU. My first visit here was before my surgery.
They wanted to make me stronger before the surgery so
I wouldnt come out as weak. So after my surgery I
came in and worked out 3xs a week with Jeff and my
personal friend, Pamela. It was a great experience.
I not only rehabbed well and came back strong but I
learned things about everyday life, especially some of
the best riddles of all time. If I hurt myself again
I know exactly where to go to rehab. BREAKTHRU is
like my second family and now I am moving on to
Performance training with Keith so he can get me ready
for basketball in the spring.

On March 3rd i headed out for a ride on a friend's quad. I was second in line to tackle the hill that put you on the trail to the quarry. As I crested the top, I saw my friend stalled out in the middle of the trail, looking like a deer caught in headlights. I swerved, caught some air, and noticed while in my descent that there was an uprooted tree blocking my landing. I bailed. The bike continued on and I landed feet first in fetal position. My foot and tibia stayed in one spot, while my femur decided to go inward toward my other leg. Total dislocation of the knee. I really didn't know what to do, so I started straightening out my leg and helped my knee back in place with my hand. My friends called the ambulance, and I was carried down the hill in a basket by the Upper Township Fire Department, very exciting.
My primary care doctor, referred me to Dr.Mark Pollard at Cooper Bone and Joint Institute, and gave me my script for my MRI. I apparently tore my ACL, MCL, LCL, meniscus, and badly bruised my PCL. I was told that I needed ACL surgery, and I wasn't going to surf for a very long time. Surfing is the most important thing, needless to say I was bummed. Dr. Pollard was great. He sat through my MANY questions, and answered every one to the best of his ability. He explained all my choices, and I ended up going with a cadaver allograft from the patellar tendon. The only thing I disagreed with, was that I wasn't going to be able to surf this season, and most likely not until the spring of 2008. I didn't like that answer.
The week before surgery I was strolling through Restoration Hardware in Marlton, when a woman approached me asking how I hurt my knee. Come to find out her husband had done the same thing but on a dirt bike, and she suggested I go to Breakthru Therapy in Medford. She said it was a great place, with great people, and could help an active person like myself. People tend to not realize that surfing works every part of your body, including your mind. Remember the medium on which we "do" our sport, is CONSTANTLY in motion. It's not a stable, non-moving field or court. So finding a solid physical therpist was very important to me.
I had surgery on April 6, 2007. On April 19, 2007, I had my first therapy appointment with Dr.Lance Knaub of Breakthru. More than anything I was so sad that I was out an entire season of surfing, and had explained this to "Lance". He assured me that with hard work and dedication, I would be back to my old self before I knew it. Well one thing Lance was right about was the HARD WORK. I don't think there's a word or phrase to describe what it feels like to get your knee to bend to 90 degrees after such an injury/surgery. Although he saw the light at the end of the tunnel, I definitely had a "Doubting Thomas" attitude, at first. I experienced Lance the first few times, then I fell one day into the hands of Kevin Schnitzer. He did this twist thing, that I eventually named the "Schnitzer Twister". Before I knew it, I was bending at 90. Jeff Sallade got a hold of me a few times, as well as Jodi Goldman-Knaub. I think that all the collaboration and different perspectives is what helped the most. Each person contributed their best knowledge, experience, and hands-on therapy, something that someone like me who dedicates a majority of their life to an extracurricular activity/sport like surfing would need. I was probably the first true surfer that they had experienced, and not only did I learn from them, they learned from me. Jeff Sallade helped me with exercises that specifically targeted my lateral movement on the board, and Lance took the time to figure out what muscles I used the most during take-off and manuevering on a wave. None were easy, and it took time to reprogram my muscles and brain to do what they were trained originally to do. I eventually moved on to physical trainer, Kevin Deputy. Having studied in Australia, putting him in contact with surfers, Kevin was able to come up with different training exercises to get my arms and legs both ready for my first paddle out post-op.
October 6, 2007 with my good friends in tow, I paddled out at my home break of 57th St. in Ocean City. The waves were about waist to stomach high, and semi-clean. Easy conditions pre-surgery, but nerve racking now. I went after a few, but my fear was holding me back. I heard one friend's voice saying, "Go for it Vaness! You can do it!" On the foggy horizon I saw the next set pushing in. The second wave had a clean shoulder, and I went for it. The next thing I knew I was making a bottom turn on a little thigh high wave, and coming back up to ride the face. It was an awesome little wave. The next 5 came with no work at all. I dropped in, staying safe with the smaller ones, and was even able to grab the rail in a deep squat.
All in all I am back out there, paddling and riding waves. I have nothing but gratitude, and appreciation to all those involved in my recovery. Dr. Pollard, and the team at Breakthru Therapy in Medford, NJ I thank you very much. Without all your help, and especially Breakthru's incredible team of awesome therapists, trainers, and aides, I would still be sitting on the beach watching. Now I am back out there, doing what I love. Surfing.
Sincerely,
Vanessa Burk

In 2004, I fell off the top of a bathroom stall at the Medford Village pool. I twisted both arms backwards, one worse than the other. I pulled some muscles in both arms. After they healed I noticed I was favoring my left shoulder. As a competitive swimmer, having a favored shoulder was probably not the best thing to have, because it got in the way of times and speed.
Now 4 years later, my shoulder is weaker than the right and its causing me pain during swim practice and meets. At the pool my coach would let me out of practice early if it was hurting too much. Ryan Driver, who works at BREAKTHRU, his family, my swim coach, Jeff and the Lauth family all recommended BREAKTHRU to me so we decided to try it out.
I was greeted with smiles at the front door by the 2 ladies at the desk. Jeff came up, talked to my mom a little, and then took me back into one of the private rooms. All of the questions were directed to me, but I often used my mom for some help with explaining. After that meeting I had to come in 2-3 times a week to strengthen my left shoulder and my core muscles. Jeff gave me a variety of exercises and stretches to help my shoulder. After the first week I could definitely feel a difference. Sometimes a new thing would be thrown at me, like playing Wii Fit with my hands in pushup position or using the pull up thing. My experience at BREAKTHRU has been great and thanks to physical therapy, I am back to my favorite sport without pain and I have been improving my times.
Thanks Jeff.

As a competitive runner I struggled with plantar fasciitis for over 3 years. I tried stretching, orthotics, injections, etc. all with limited success as the injury kept reoccurring and I would once again be unable to run.
After working with BREAKTHRU Physical Therapy I finally cleared the final hurdle and I have been injury-free for over 6 months now. I never thought I would recover from this injury but BREAKTHRU made it happen.

Thanks to Lance, I was able to come back quickly from my hip flexor strain and finish my Cross Country Season. As Captain of the team, I was eager to get back to running with my team. With the help of Lance at BREAKTHRU Physical Therapy, I was able to learn the stretches and the pre-race warm-ups that would ultimately keep my injury free. After a few weeks of rehabilitation, I was able to race again at the South Jersey Open, helping my team win first place!
I cannot recommend BREAKTHRU Physical Therapy enough. Especially for athletes who take their sports performance seriously. BREAKTHRU helped me perform to the best of my ability post-injury. I cannot thank you enough for your hard work and I cant wait for a great start to my indoor track season.

Kevin has done wonders for me! Right from our first consult together he has taken the time to listen to my complaints and has always found ways to address my problems. Kevin seems quite knowledgeable and has used both pictures and models to explain my injuries to me. He makes me feel welcome and is caring and gentle with massages and stretching. He has even stretched muscles I didnt know I had! Kevin remembers the every day tasks that I have had trouble with and incorporates ways for me to practice these specific movements in my therapy. I appreciate his constant encouraging words. I feel blessed to have found Kevin and BREAKTHRU Therapy. Kevin is everything a physical therapist should be.
Thank you

In August of 2007, I tore my right ACL and meniscus. I couldnt even begin to imagine life without sports, but thanks to BREAKTHRU they put me through rehab before my surgery to make my knee stronger. After surgery, Jeff worked me hard and within four months I am close to going back to sports. I wouldnt be as strong as I am now if it wasnt for BREAKTHRU. Now I am ready to go back to playing soccer and softball in February. Thanks to Jeff. Thank-you BREAKTHRU!

When I started at BREAKTHRU I had an elbow that would not bend. I had a hard time picking up things and it hurt a lot. But when I saw BREAKTHRU in my mind I would get it back and I knew I could do gymnastics again.
My therapist was Kevin. He helped me a whole lot. I loved when I would wrestle with Kevin. I also had fun hitting him (not hard!). So now I have no pain at all.
Thank you very, very, very much BREAKTHRU.

Jeff and Kevin were exceptional. Always positive, knowledgable, took time to explain and were very thorough. They were organized, on top of what was going on with each client and kept you busy and progressing.
Many thanks!

I am now in the maintain and repair phase of life; but tennis is still my passion. I have played with a group of Early Bird players (5:30AM-9:00AM/M-W-F) for the past 10 years and have no intention of stopping anytime soon. Unfortunately, somewhere along the way I developed a sore right (serving arm) shoulder. I tried rest, no change. I tried serving underhanded (a sitting duck) and sleeping on my left side.
Then came BREAKTHRU Physical Therapy in the form of Dr. Lance Knaub. In less than 30 days that right shoulder was/is as good as new. I would be less than honest if I did not state my skepticism as to the end result of such therapy. How wrong I was! Lance is truly a hands on therapist. The kneading, stretching and joint massaging proved to be very effective. And the follow up exercises have maintained the shoulders continued good health.
My wife, Elle, (who first found BREAKTHRU with a badly damaged knee from a staph infection which resulted in multiple operations) and I are now members of the excellent gym which is part of the BREAKTHRU operation. But Lance is the star in our house. Thru the months of my wifes knee rehab therapy and my shoulder we had the opportunity to know and appreciate this warm and talented individual.

My therapist Kevin was very thorough and spent sufficient time in locating where my pain was and setting up a program that worked for me. I had pain that was preventing me from driving a distance and playing golf. At this point I am not having any problems and I can walk 18 holes without a problem.

Dr. Knaub,
Im very pleased to write you this letter of recommendation and, more importantly, letter of thanks. I went through arthroscopic knee surgery four weeks ago, and thanks to your staff and my therapist, Jeff Sallade, Ive got a clean bill of health from my doctor and am able to return to my daily activities ahead of schedule. A week after my surgery, I was very concerned that the timing of this procedure was going to interfere with some springtime projects I was planning and looking forward to. Now, three weeks later, Im pushing wheelbarrows, spreading mulch, planting trees, and playing with my daughters with no restrictions or limitations and it feels great.
Your staff is a true credit to your organization and a pleasure to work with. They provided me with the motivation I needed to recover in less time than I expected. It was a difficult process and painful at times, but I always looked forward to every appointment and the progress we made together.
Thanks again to everyone!
Sincerely,
Robert J. Sorrentino
I tore my right ACL in July of 2006, and shortly after I was searching for a place to rehab after the surgery. After meeting the BREAKTHRU staff and seeing their top notch exercise facility, I knew they would help me return strong for the upcoming lacrosse season. Both Lance and Keith worked me hard, and I returned to lacrosse stronger and more agile than ever before. At the end of the season, in June 2007, I had an unfortunate accident and tore my left ACL. I could think of nowhere better to go to rehab than BREAKTHRU. I had such a positive experience with them in dealing with my first knee injury. I worked on my left knee with Jeff, and I now feel stronger than ever. I am confident I will return to lacrosse in good shape and with excellent muscle strength. My success and ability to return to lacrosse is completely because of BREAKTHRU.
Thank you Lance, Jeff, and Keith for helping me be the athlete I am.

Dear Kevin and the entire staff on the BREAKTHRU physical therapy team,
Please let me thank you for the great care and professionalism that you provided during my rehabilitation period at your facility. I recently experienced my second knee replacement on July 8, 2008 having had my first on October 9, 2007. On bother occasions, Kevin Schnitzer provided the physical therapy treatment to bring me back to normal. I cannot thank Kevin Schnitzer enough for the great job he has done.
Thank you,
Ann Karanzalis
During my time spent at BREAKTHRU for physical therapy, I made the following observations:
1. EXPERTISE OF STAFF
Kevin Schnitzer demonstrated a sense of confidence and responsibilities in his abilities. He was conscientious and sensitive to my personal needs. He genuinely cares for his patients and the job he is doing. I trusted his decision making abilities concerning my care. He appeared to go beyond his job description to rehabilitate my shoulder. His activities taken from his bag of tricks were designed specifically to get me back playing tennis.
2. CLEANLINESS OF FACILITIES
Marilyn Hartford is an asset to your business!
3. WELL ORGANIZE AND EQUIPPED
Lance and Jodi- your interest and support for the Medford Senior Tennis Tournament was greatly appreciated.
Thanks Again,
George Shubic
After rotator cuff surgery I began PT here at BREAKTHRU. My experience was extraordinary. Everyone was knowledgeable, helpful, and professional. The friendly attitude of staff made the experience something I looked forward to. There was also a tremendous sense of caring on the part of all therapists and staff. I plan on staying in touch with my therapist Kevin Schnitzer. I know he cares.
By the way, I was extremely pleased with my prognosis. I can not imagine going anywhere else!
Sincerely

Dear Breakthru Staff,
When I first came here, I was in a lot of pain with
my knee. I had trouble doing my daily activities. My
first visit was very comforting. The doctors didnt
know what was wrong with my knee. I didnt have
surgery when I came here. Everyone made me feel
welcome.
During my time here, I have had the best time. Pam,
the PT aide, was there to make me laugh and talk about
food while helping me with my exercises. Physical
Therapists, Jeff and Nancy were there for me when my
regular PT, Kevin, wasn't. They made me feel like I
had been working with them the whole time.
Now my knee is like brand new. They have all helped
me with the healing experience. Thank you all soooo
much for helping me get better. You guys are the
best!! I will definitely mention you all to my
friends that are injured. I couldnt have asked for a
better staff to help me through this. Thank you and
hope to see you all soon.
Thanks a bunch,
Amanda Nichols
I tore my ACL in May of 2008 playing lacrosse at Boston University. It was right before my first NCAA experience and all I could think about was not now! After confirming just ACL damage my family was on a specific mission to find the best surgeon and rehabilitation facility so I could have the most successful recovery. My sister, who is also a physical therapist, suggested that I forgo physical therapy with her because she knew someone more specialized and better prepared to handle a serious athlete. She sent me to BREAKTHRU and to Jeff and I cannot thank her enough. Jeff has really pushed me beyond my own ambitions to get back out on the field stronger and better. Even through minor setbacks, Jeff has always supported and encouraged me and I am forever grateful. I know Ill be thinking of Jeff and BREAKTHRU when I make my first welcome back appearance at BUs Nickerson field and I will owe a lot of that appearance to the positive and successful recovery I got a BREAKTHRU.
Thanks again!

To Jodi, Lance, and the Staff at BREAKTHRU,
Words seem inadequate to express my thanks and appreciation for all the care and encouragement you all gave me in the past six months as I was going through physical therapy.
At the end of January I underwent double knee replacement and when it was time for me to have physical therapy, I knew that no place but Breakthru would do for me. I came hardly able to stand even with the aid of a walker and went through PT for a few weeks. One leg made great progress but the other leg did not respond to all the carefully planned Lance program of exercises. When I went back to the surgeon for a check up, I discovered that the left leg had failed and I had to have a revision.
After the second surgery and home PT, I went back to my favorite PT place--BREAKTHRU. You welcomed me with open arms. Although I was somewhat discourage, Jodi and the staff reassured me that the second time round was going to be successful.
The first few weeks were painful as I tried to stand without my walker and wobble across the room to ride the bike or stand on foam rubber to improve my balance. The most challenging task was standing on the surf board (as Jodi calls it) and trying to maintain somewhat of a balance. Luckily, Jodi gave me a ssecurity blanket by placing the board near a table for added support. I eventually got so good on the surf board that I was able to help Pam fold laundry while I was balancing on the board.
As the weeks and months past, I gained more strength in my legs, and under the progressive exercise plan devised by Jodi, I was able too walk without my cane. I am able to assume most of my daily activities and much to my delight and joy, I was discharged from PT with a certificate of accomplishment on Sept. 3.
Thank you, Pam, for all your loving care in giving me heat and ice those first painful weeks of therapy and thank you, Jodi and Lance and staff for all your kind concern on my behalf. It's no wonder that you are NUMBER 1 in the nation. The honor is well deserved.

When I started I was in pain. My arm wasnt working to the extent of what I wanted it to. So I started physical therapy with BREAKTHRU and with all the exercises they taught me, I am back to almost normal. I will continue my exercise regimen in the gym where the therapists can keep an eye on me and help me when needed. Thank you for all that helped to get me to where I am today. I really appreciate all the caring and assistance.
James Kennedy
When I first arrived at Breakthru Physical Therapy, I had a severe pain throughout my arm when I would throw. After only a week of physical therapy, the small muscles in my shoulder became stronger and the pain began to lessen. Ive been going to BREAKTHRU for a few weeks now and I can throw without any pain. BREAKTHRU has helped me dramatically. I look to continue with the training and exercise I was accustomed to at BREAKTHRU in order to maintain my health and strength.
Ryan Brecko
I found everything and everyone at Breakthru to be extremely helpful. Kevin, the physical therapist, has been wonderful and very understanding. I have already recommended BREAKTHRU to several people.
Thank you.

I was diagnosed with a spinal cord tumor years ago and doctors told me that there was no hope for me. After researching, we found a doctor who was confident the he could operate and remove the tumor from inside my spinal cord. Dr. Epstein saved my life but I was left with many neurological impairments, weakness on my right side, an awkward gait and pain I could not understand. I went to several different physical therapy facilities with the same disappointing results. None of them really knew what to do for me or really cared. Most of my life was now spent adapting to every day life. I had lost confidence, self-esteem, and the ability to do many things for myself. Every day was a challenge and getting more difficult as time went on.
Then I found BREAKTHRU and Kevin Schnitzer. When I started at BREAKTHRU, I could not have asked for anyone who is more knowledgeable, patient, inspiring, motivating, understanding and creative. Kevin Schnitzer is all of the above and more. I knew this was not going to be an easy journey but Kevin made me feel comfortable from the very first time I met him. He has a positive attitude and always believes in me and made me begin to believe in myself again. Kevin is able to keep me focused and look at the progress that we have made. He makes each session challenging and rewarding. Through his encouragement and understanding I have finally begun to experience improvement in strength, balance, and endurance. I am finally beginning to feel confident again.
Without a doubt Kevin has had and continues to have a dramatic impact on the quality of my life. I will forever be indebted to him.
Thanks for believing in me!

Testimonial for Lance, Kevin, and BREAKTHRU Staff
Walking into the lively environment of BREAKTHRU, and greeted by your friendly staff, I could easily view other people highly engaged in their 1 on 1 work with a Physical Therapist, or working a fitness workout with a trainer or by themselves. They were recovering from various stages of injury. Window openings that connect the PT room with the fitness area also look outside, and this kept my mind from feeling closed in by my physical difficulties. Thank you, Dr. Lance Knaub, for the compassion you showed me with each assessment.
I came to physical therapy after seeing several doctors. When I was younger I never cared how I threw my body around. I heartily engaged in highly physical activities. Now I realize the injuries created weaknesses in my body. These difficulties sobered me to how to use my body now: how not to aggravate symptoms of numbness in my hands; how to pair healing a new back injury from overexertion in exercise, with gaining supportive abdominal strength, and overall fitness.
Lance and his graduate intern Kevin are always in concert as my treatment "team". My condition is thoroughly addressed during each visit. At times I have felt down by the aging process. All along the way, Kevin has helped me to understand that my difficulties are of an individual nature particular to me, so I will think before I move. My new automatic focus on the mechanics of my body - around my weaknesses is in large part due to Kevin's caring nature and instincts. His obvious good education and Lance's professional, high-level supervision have helped me to retain hope, and to monitor my drive and enthusiasm. I look forward to working with Kevin because he has always made me feel that what mattered to me mattered to him - in a way my doctors could not. He took the time to know me well enough to anticipate my need to work hard and diversify my re-training program. He has taught me a variety of new exercises that I will continue to employ as he moves me steadily to my "graduation" from PT. Thank you, Kevin! Thank you, Lance!

With highly skilled and caring physical therapists such as Jeff Sallade, MSPT and equally skilled Physical Therapist Assistant, Nancy Wilson, it is east to understand why BREAKTHRU was voted Number 1 physical therapy practice in the nation by their peers.
My course of treatment following an automobile accident was a positive one; the individual attention to needs and goals was evident in every session.
Friendly staff and clean environment was a plus to an overall great experience.

My physical therapy experience at BREAKTHRU has been a
pleasant, comfortable and very successful one. My
initial evaluation with Jeff was thorough and provided
me with several suggestions for at-home exercises
which were simple but effective.
The other staff has been caring, friendly and very
helpful in every way. My special thanks to Nancy
Wilson, who was constantly concerned with my level of
comfort with every activity attempted. Pam was
available with assistance whenever needed and Kevin
covered my program one day when Nancy wasnt
available.
As a result of all this great attention there was
steady improvement in my condition. After five weeks I
am virtually pain free, with a list of at home
exercises to maintain my status and a membership in
the fitness center to help make certain that I do.

Breakthru has wonderful, professional and caring therapists. I came in with pain and I am leaving feeling great!

I had a messed up hip and went to physical therapy at BREAKTHRU. They made it better and now I can run as much as I want!

Following total knee replacement on February 5th, I spent a few weeks working with the physical therapists at BREAKTHRU restoring movement in various joints. The staff at BREAKTHRU was very pleasant and with their expertise I had a rapid recovery. Now I am ready for exercise three days a week in the BREAKTHRU fitness center.

Not knowing where else to turn after 2+ = months of physical therapy to rehab from arthroscopic knee surgery, I came into BREAKTHRU Physical Therapy & Fitness to become a member of the gym. AT the time, I was still not walking correctly, I was fearful of arthritis pain and not in agreement with needing gel injections which were recommended.
During my consultation with Keith, he realized and sensitively stated that I was functional but not really living my life as before. HE asked if I was open to the prospect of some additional physical therapy as he didnt want to put me into a situation where I could further hurt myself. I agreed totally and arranged for a consultation with Lance.
With my slight limp, persistent swollen knee and broken spirit, I met with Lance. He was very attentive and sensitive to my condition yet confident that I could be helped through additional physical therapy and some encouragement to rebuild my self- confidence.
Lances stretching techniques to increase my range of motion and floor exercises to strengthen muscles were like none I had experienced. With each session, my program was progressively modified and shortly thereafter, the swelling diminished, my limp was gone and my mood was transformed.
Lances expertise and support, along with his caring, calm demeanor were directly responsible for restoring my capability t o return to the manner in which I live my life. I have since transitioned to the gym and I highly recommend BREAKTHRU Physical Therapy and Fitness for anyone seeking to maintain and/or improve their physical ability and well being. The entire staff is professional, friendly and helpful.

I first started coming for PT at BREAKTHRU for a shoulder injury that occurred while swimming. I went for a while but my shoulder wasnt that bad so I stopped coming. However, the pain got worse and worse and I eventually couldnt move my shoulder at all. I went to the doctor and was diagnosed with Cinovitus and was given a script for 6 weeks of PT before they decided if I would need surgery to fix it. By the time PT was finished, I went from not being able to move my arm to having 90-95% of my mobility back. BREAKTHRU did wonders for me and, thanks to them, I dont need surgery! After being out of swimming for about 3-4 months, I was finally allowed to go back. Swimming is getting easier and easier as time goes on. Hopefully soon, I will be back to swimming as well as before I had my injury. I am very grateful for what BREAKTHRU did for me. The care they give to each and every patient is amazing. You can tell by all the individual attention that each patient is given, that they truly want the best for each patient. I can tell why they were voted #1 in the nation.
THANKS AGAIN BREAKTHRU!!

Upon arrival at BREAKTHRU Physical Therapy I could barely walk due to the pain in my left knee area. I encountered Jeff Sallade, physical therapist who reviewed my problem immediately. His diagnosis was confirmed by a MRI. He immediately started my PT. The pain was there initially; but after several PT exercises, the pain began to lessen and I found out I could do things (exercises) which I had never done before. It never occurred to me that I could do things until Jeff showed me the way. Jeffs explanations with my problem were so clear and quite an education that I knew and felt confident I was improving with each visit. I am now improved to the point where I can continue my exercises at home. I cannot thank BREAKTHRU Physical Therapy enough for their fine PT apparatus and thank Jeff Sallade in particular for the care, concern, and expertise that he has given me. While there, I have observed many other patients who came to Jeff with many other problems that he knew immediately about. It has been a terrific experience.
Thank you BREAKTHRU and especially Jeff Sallade.

I had total knee replacement on my left knee in
December 2007. After two weeks of hospital and
in-home rehab, I started out-patient rehab at
BREAKTHRU Physical Therapy and Fitness. From the very
first evaluation with Lance, I was impressed by the
care, concern, and professionalism of the staff. Over
the next eight weeks I was challenged and encouraged
to do more and more in stretching, balance and
building my strength.
My physical therapist, Nancy Wilson, worked wonders
with massage and range of motion. She kept me on
track and constantly encouraged me. Pam, an aide
there, became a buddy, talking to me while I was
exercising, taking my mind off the difficulty of some
of the exercises and making me laugh.
The thing that impressed me the most however, was how
well everyone worked together and how pleasant they
were. I felt like we were almost family---patients
and staff. We laughed together; they were concerned
when it was an off day for me. They were encouraging
when I wanted to add gym time on other days to walk
the treadmill and bike, and even had the trainer,
Kevin, set up some light upper body exercises for me.
My concerns were heard; they kept a close eye on me,
corrected and cheered me on. I looked forward to
rehab days and actually enjoyed my time there.
As I transition now to the gym totally, I know I am
in a facility that cares how I am doing. They will
continue to strengthen my body as I prepare for
surgery on the right knee in the fall of 2008. And of
course I know the perfect rehab facility for my
outpatient work.
Thank you, Nancy, Lance, Pam, and Kevin,

After undergoing right shoulder surgery, the path to recovery seemed long, painful, and out of reach. But with the encouragement and knowledge of my BREAKTHRU physical therapist Jeff, I made a surprisingly fast recovery.
Attending BREAKTHRU 3 days a week turned my weak and frail shoulder into a strong healthy and flexible one. I am very grateful for the help that Jeff and BREAKTHRU have given me. I know exactly where to go if I ever have another injury.
Thank you

Coming here after having reconstructive hip surgery, it has given me strength in my leg and the ability to walk without a cane. My therapist, was extremely helpful in my recovery. All of the employees are helpful and friendly. I highly recommend this fitness center.

When I injured my rotator cuff in September of 2002, I had considerable pain and anticipated a possible surgery. Lance was a God send to me. His outstanding knowledge of an evidence based approach to dealing with my injury was so helpful and I am so happy I did not have to have surgery. Lance also helped me with increasing my mobility and strength overall, preparing me to return to work after a 9 month out of work situation.
Thank you Lance!Juanita Rizzo
When I started physical therapy on my shoulder with Dr. Knaub, there was a good chance I was still going to need surgery. After just a couple of weeks, I started to show some improvement, so we continued with treatment. Amazingly, my strength and mobility improved tremendously, and I was able to get out of surgery after 12 weeks of physical therapy. I have no doubt that the specific expertise of Dr. Knaub and his associates were instrumental in this success. I am already back on the court shooting hoops and, more importantly, living life without pain.

Ive come a long way with two dislocated bones in my right arm, a fractured elbow, wrist problems and a very sore little pinky finger. My therapy has been great! Immediately the therapist (Jodi) valued the problems and set forth to correct them and correct them she did! I have a great deal to thank her for. The staff has been caring, cooperative and helpful. From the front desk (Susan) everything worked so well. What would I have done without darling Amanda (PT Aide). She is a comfort and delight. What ever road she travels will be successful. Much success in your new location. You all make a winning team!
Sincerely, Mary Eisenhower June 13, 2006
For thirty years, I have been involved in a number of Physical Therapy programs, due to the fact, that we have a head injured son. I was concerned, when after a serious automobile accident, I found myself in need of physical therapy
I came in for my evaluation in a walker, and with a shoulder that didnt work. My first surprise was that my evaluation was more thorough than Id expected. My program was decided upon, designed and redesigned as my needs changed. The outstanding difference that BREAKTHRU offers, as opposed to the other experiences we had, as their hands on therapy. Every session, and mine lasted over 28 months, I was guided, monitored and interacted with my therapist. The atmosphere was calm, pleasant. BREAKTHRU is certainly unique in its expertise, and in its ability to show sincere concern about the individual client and their progress.

Nancy was very nice, very attentive and creative in adapting the exercises to what I could tolerate. My shoulder is now functioning much better!
Thank you Martha Knight
When I first met with my physical therapists from BREAKTHRU Physical Therapy, I was in severe back pain. They took the time to sit down with me to discuss my health history and to map out a plan for recovery.
At first I was skeptical, not having been involved in physical therapy before, but even after my first session I began to see improvement. I spent 4 weeks with my therapists and graduated feeling like a new person! My aches and pains have virtually disappeared! My physical therapists taught me different exercises to help my back, how to stretch my tight muscles, and preventative techniques to avoid injuring myself again.
I have never felt this good or been in better shape! I fact, I wanted to I wanted to continue the program set forth by my therapists so I joined their wellness center! Finally, a positive environment where I can better myself with the continued support of a wonderful group of professionals! Thanks BREAKTHRU!

Hi Everybody,
Let me tell you, youll receive wonderful care here at BREAKTHRU physical therapy. I had rotator cuff surgery one my right shoulder, which had been a constant discomfort for approximately 6 years. Well, with the expertise of Dr. Lance Knaub and associates, I was lifting weights with no restraints by the end of the third month. My surgeon was extremely pleased with the progress and told me I was way ahead of schedule.
If youre hurt, this is the place to come for your physical therapy needs.
Best of Health to You, Charles Kay
My 11 year old son was sent to physical therapy for a back injury he sustained while playing soccer. The Doctor at Cooper Hospital recommended BREAKTHRU Physical Therapy in Medford. Since BREAKTHRU was located in close to where I live, I thought I would give them a try.
Initially we found that my insurance coverage wasnt too good. While they were verifying information, I made a call to Cooper Hospital. The wait was 3 weeks and it was in the morning, meaning Id have to take him out of school. This was clearly not a very convenient option, but if I had to I would. Within an hour BREAKTHRU called me back and discussed a payment option that was great for me. They could see Peter the next day and we were on our way.
Peters initial evaluation was very thorough and I was immediately impressed with Lances manner. He spoke to my son in terms he understood and directed his questions to him, not me. Through the course of treatment, we met Jodi and Jason. Every encounter was a positive one. Ive never dealt with an office that was so accommodating. Peter learned realistic stretching techniques and exercises appropriate for him that he can utilize in all aspects of his sports play. He was motivated by their enthusiasm and has not only recovered nicely, but has made it a part of his playing routine. Our last visit involved a home plan for strengthening and endurance. Lance developed it specifically for him. I am excited for my son to have had this kind of guidance at a young age. He will walk away from this experience with more than just healing.
Ive worked in health care for 17 years and I am completely impressed with the professionalism and level of care. I have told everyone I know about our experience and will continue to do so when the situation arises, especially in my workplace.
Sincerely, Elisa Ristine
This place is GREAT!!
I recommend highly!
Kevin and Jeff are very knowledgeable!
Thank you BREAKTHRU!

I want to take this opportunity to express my thanks for the wonderful experience I had regarding my physical therapy. I was diagnosed with 2 herniated discs in my back mid October. This was after having experienced progressively worsening pain in my back radiating to my left hip and down my leg over the last year (Ive been suffering with low back pain for years).
Upon starting physical therapy, I was skeptically hopeful for some level of relief from pain. After having completed 8 weeks-3 times per week of therapy, I am amazed at my level of comfort as well as flexibility. This is attributed to the excellent, professional care I received from Jodi. Besides being very good at what she does, she makes your experience enjoyable. She is very professional and personable at the same time. Her knowledge and her ability to explain everything done to you and why, is refreshing. She actually provides you with hands-on therapy as well as instructing you on individual exercises to do while there and at home. She goes out of her way to provide you with any information regarding your therapy. Because of this one-on-one therapy, I would recommend BREAKTHRU Physical Therapy to anyone with such needs. I feel you benefit more from this small-scale therapy than if you were to go to a larger, well-known group, where you become a number, not a person.
The art of caring for an individual has been lost in our big, medical facilities, but at BREAKTHRU Physical Therapy, they treat you as a person and they give you their undivided attention at all times! One gains not only better health, but friendships that hopefully will continue overtime. Thank you for your professional expertise as well as your genuine caring for me as a person.
Sincerely, Deanna Thomas
Following a dirt bike accident that resulted in multiple tears to the ligaments in my knee, I began pre-operation physical therapy with BREAKTHRU Physical Therapy. Lance and Jodi put together a program of stretching and strengthening to heal and prepare the knee. Their knowledge and experience in handling the condition was excellent. The one on one instruction and the varying exercises as I progressed was outstanding. Jodis enthusiasm and motivation made the sessions fly by.
After months of therapy and some unique healing by the knee, it was determined that surgery was not required. I am back doing the activities that I enjoyed before the accident. I am extremely satisfied with the care that I received and would highly recommend BREAKTHRU Physical Therapy
Sincerely, George Stine
I have been receiving physical therapy services for the past six months from Jodi Goldman. During this time, I have experienced tremendous relief from the aches and pains associated with Rheumatoid Arthritis. Jodis hands-on techniques coupled with her guidance for an individually designed exercise program have kept me feeling well. Physical Therapy has kept my symptoms under control and as a result I have not had to take more powerful medications. I am truly grateful for Jodis competence as a physical therapist and her caring nature as a person!
Sincerely, Gerry Ehala
Lance and Jodi both worked with me following knee surgery. They used a wide variety of exercises which were both productive and kept the routine from becoming boring. I am very pleased with the progress they helped me make. I feel like I have successfully achieved my goal of returning to normal, pain free, functioning with my knee.

Before I started at BREAKTHRU, I was navigating steps like a child just learning to walk - one at a time and walking and standing for a prolonged period were becoming very uncomfortable. My therapy extended over the course of three months (with time out for vacation). As time elapsed I realized theyd been gentle and easy on me when I started, taking into consideration my limited capacity. Each day there was a new stretch or exercise to attain my goal of walking with no pain and being able to tread stairs in a normal manner. Guaranteed, it wasnt easy at times, but youve got to put a good effort into your own rate of recovery.
Today Im walking pain free and navigating steps foot over foot without the help of a railing. Lance and Jodi are very knowledgeable, competent therapists who care about your recovery and encourage you every step of the way. One little hintNEVER say, Gee, this is getting easy, because theres always another level to be added to whatever the activity is that youve been doing.
Graduating was a little scary as Id gotten to depend on the appointed times I had to be at therapy. Being a member at BREAKTHRU helps me maintain what Ive gained and Lance and Jodi are always there for a quick consult and guidance.
Sincerely, Ginny Fink
I showed up at BREAKTHRU for an evaluation. At the time, I had swelling, pain and locking of my knee due to a torn meniscus. I anticipated months of therapy. It took 4 weeks and I feel stronger in my legs than I have in a long time. Lance, Jodi and all the members of the staff were caring, helpful and positive. Bravo and thank you to all!

Rotator cuff surgery isnt fun! My surgeons office warned me that my recliner would become my new best friend and they were right. The first few weeks were rough, but eventually I was pronounced ready for physical therapy. Five months post surgery I was dismissed from therapy and told to exercise at home.
A couple months elapsed and I became more and more dissatisfied with the remaining pain and lack of strength in the shoulder.
On the recommendation of my sister, Lois Ann, I went to Lance at BREAKTHRU Physical Therapy for an evaluation. Rotator cuff rehabilitation is Lances forte and he felt that through proper therapy there was room for improvement. Thus ensued approximately 2 = months of therapy. What a difference! Lance and/or Jodi lead me through intensive therapy with a completely different technique than I had experience before. They stayed with me, manually working the shoulder as well as instructing me in strengthening exercises, but keeping a close watch to make sure I was doing each move correctly.
Two weeks ago, I graduated from BREAKTHRU, immensely improved both in strength and reduction of discomfort. In fact, Im virtually pain free. Ive maintained my membership at Everfit in order to continue staying fit, and its comforting to know that if I have any concerns or questions, I just need to walk into the next room to be at BREAKTHRU for a consult.
Sincerely, Ron Fink
Therapy has improved my strength and range of motion. They have shown me how to exercise properly for my shoulder and knee problems. The therapists have been sympathetic about my pain threshold. I have enjoyed working with all the therapists and the people at BREAKTHRU Physical Therapy.
Sincerely, Rita Pugliese
I am writing to thank you for the great improvement I have experienced in my overall physical condition since the treatment you have given me in the past two months.
When I joined the Fitness Center, the personal training screen determined that I had a problem in both shoulders. At the time I could not raise my arms more than 90 degrees from either side. I continued to exercise at the Center and avoided the particular exercises which I could not do.
BREAKTHRUs physical therapists checked out my shoulder and said they could probably help me. They asked me to see an Orthopedic Physician first. I did that and after numerous diagnostic tests it was determined that I had a serious rotator cuff tear in the right shoulder that might need a rotator cuff repair procedure. The left shoulder was the same problem to a lesser degree. The doctor suggested that I try Physical Therapy first and surgery as a last resort. I was also diagnosed as having Osteoporosis in the lumbar area, which was causing some lower back pain.
After two months of Physical Therapy with Jodi and Lance I have experienced a remarkable improvement. My left shoulder is like new and my right shoulder is drastically improved. My back pain is also greatly reduced. Surgery is now out of the question! The pain I used to have at night in my shoulders is gone. They also prescribed numerous exercises for me to do on my own now that I have graduated from therapy and am working out as a member of BREAKTHRU Fitness.
I cannot thank Jodi and Lance and their staff, Amanda & Analisa enough for the care they gave me.
Thank You Again,
Don Fries
When I first started my physical therapy, I had trouble walking and I had pain in my hip. My goal was to regain mobility and walk at least one mile. My physical therapy included walking on the treadmill, using weights, and other equipment. Thanks to Lance, and the physical therapy staff, I have successfully reached my goal.
My sincere thanks, Anna Thompson
BREAKTHRU Physical Therapy has been a very important part of my recovery from knee and foot surgery. Their expertise in physiotherapy has helped me to be able to stand and walk once again. They also have a very compassionate and individualized approach with all their clients. You will find that your therapist will continually evaluate your physical condition and restructure your program as your rehabilitation requirements and fitness levels change. This careful attention to our specific needs rather than some canned therapeutic routine enables them to maximize the results of your therapy and accelerate your progress towards regaining normal function.
The road to recovery can often be a long, tedious and painful experience, but when working with Lance and Jodi, (BREAKTHRU PT) you feel that not only do you have a skilled professional at your side, but also a caring partner in fulfilling your health goals. I would highly recommend them to anybody who wants to get their body back to performing to the best of their ability.
Sincerely, Christine Iacona
I cant say enough good things about BREAKTHRU Physical Therapy. All of the employees are friendly and helpful. Jodi, my therapist, had experience with Parkinsons disease and was quite helpful. She is very caring and compassionate. Therapy at BREAKTHRU Physical Therapy has kept my disease under control and allows me to have more confidence in my everyday life. Thus having a better quality of life.
Its nice to know if I need them, BREAKTHRU is there. Thanks to all of you.

Approximately 5 months ago, I went to BREAKTHRU Physical Therapy with a balance problem. I already belonged to BREAKTHRU Fitness, which I enjoyed so I knew the physical therapists were available as a resource.
My neurologist said it was a good choice, but I found out was a very good choice.
Jodi worked with me for about 3 months in which time I could see a improvements every day. I can now walk in straight lines, do not fall against doorways, and can put on my pants without leaning against the wall.
Thank You Jodi and BREAKTHRU, Thomas McMorrow
When I started at BREAKTHRU I had constant pain in my back and legs. I could not hold my back straight or pick up things from the floor. I had trouble getting in or out of the car and could just about walk from the curb to my house.
NOW the pain is gone from my back and legs. I can walk several blocks with out pain. I can walk in a food store with out using a shopping cart. I no longer limit myself to one trip a day up and down stairs.
Thank you, BREAKTHRU people for the workouts which have done me so much good. I never expected to make such a comeback.
Lois Braccio
The orthopedic surgeon repaired my leg with two steel plates and 13 screws. That was the easy part. I had to learn to walk again. The surgeon told me, It will take at least one year to be back to pre-injury activity. Thanks in great part to BREAKTHRU Physical Therapy, the long road to recovery has been shorter. At seven months Im walking great distances, and my mobility is almost at pre-injury levels. Without their skilled work, personal interest and motivation generated by their entire staff, my recovery would not be ahead of schedule! BREAKTHRU is the place to be if youve suffered significant injury.

My feelings about physical therapy at BREAKTHRU
When I first arrived I was having muscle cramps, back
pain and all-around discomfort. Today, I feel almost
like my old self. My physical therapist was wonderful and knowledgeable. As soon as my
therapy started, her care and sweetness set me at ease
and her manipulations really helped me feel so much
better.
Today, I feel almost like myself, no cramps, back
pain is minimal, and my outlook is so much better,
mostly due to the therapists help and attitude toward helping
me. I would more than gladly recommend
BREAKTHRU to anyone.

The main factor I have enjoyed is the constant feeling of personal security. The staff is exceptional. They always make you feel better by the way they show therapeutic process. They always explain the reason they are working on you and what you, as a patient, can do at home. BREAKTHRU is a perfect name as it fits the care we, as patients, are getting.
Thank you

Lance was outstanding in assisting me in rehabilitation of 2 torn rotator cuffs. The right torn supraspinatus was completely rehabbed in less than 2 months, which allowed me to have the left repaired way ahead of schedule. The surgeon was amazed that the first rehab was completed so quickly to allow the second surgery to be performed. I am now completely healed and back to weight training and playing sports, such as ice hockey and basketball. Both shoulders are stronger than ever, and I have forgotten that I even had the surgeries.
Thank You Lance, Andy Samson
